WPBakery Page Builder 9.0.1 – Drag & Drop WordPress Page Builder

Description

WPBakery (the plugin many people still know as Visual Composer) has been bundled with thousands of ThemeForest themes, which is exactly why so many sites still depend on it. If your theme was built around WPBakery shortcodes, keeping the plugin current is the simplest way to keep those layouts editable and working with the latest WordPress releases.

Version 9.0.1 gives you both editing modes: a front-end editor where you see the page while you build it, and a back-end editor that shows the structure as blocks. You get rows, columns, tabs, accordions, galleries, buttons and more, plus design options for spacing, borders and backgrounds on every element, with no hand-written shortcode needed.

Key features

• Front-end (live) and back-end (schematic) editors, switchable at any time
• A large set of built-in content elements: text, images, galleries, tabs, accordions, buttons, charts and more
• Grid Builder for custom post and portfolio grids
• Design options per row, column and element: margins, padding, borders, backgrounds
• Role Manager to decide which user roles can edit with the builder
• Works with most themes, and with add-ons written for the WPBakery API

Best for

• Owners of ThemeForest themes that were built on WPBakery shortcodes
• Agencies maintaining older client sites that need the builder kept up to date
• Anyone who prefers a shortcode-based builder to block themes

Requirements

• WordPress 6.x or newer
• PHP 7.4+ (8.x recommended)
• A theme that doesn’t already bundle a conflicting copy of the builder

What you get

• The original, unmodified WPBakery Page Builder plugin files, version 9.0.1 (updated 6 August 2026)
• Released under the GPL licence
• Use it on as many sites as you own or build for clients
• Instant download from your Moryvanta account after checkout

Good to know

• Moryvanta is an independent GPL redistributor and is not affiliated with or endorsed by WPBakery. Product names and trademarks belong to their owners.
• The GPL covers the WPBakery plugin files and their updates, but not WPBakery’s own licence key. If the plugin asks you to activate a licence (for the online template library or automatic updates), that licence has to be bought separately. Get in touch with Moryvanta support and we’ll help: a licence through Moryvanta where available, or we’ll point you to WPBakery.
• Without activation, the cloud template library and one-click updates in the dashboard stay locked; all editing features and locally saved templates work normally.
• If your theme bundles WPBakery, check that its version is not newer than this one before replacing it.
• Moryvanta support covers downloading and installing the files.

Frequently asked questions

What is WPBakery Page Builder?

WPBakery Page Builder is a drag-and-drop WordPress plugin for building page layouts with rows, columns and content elements. It works in a live front-end editor or a back-end editor and runs with almost any theme.

Will my existing WPBakery pages keep working?

Yes. Pages are stored as WPBakery shortcodes, so installing this version over an older one keeps your layouts intact. As always, take a backup before updating.

Can I use it alongside Elementor?

You can have both installed, but each page should be built with one builder. Many sites use WPBakery for legacy pages and another builder for new ones.
